Write Only Memory

Believe it or not, almost none of the poems I’ve ever written were planned or even edited in any way at all. Here on WordPress, I usually just click “Write” and let my mind wander. If I don’t take things down as they come, I forget them almost instantly. This has me scribbling down poems and random lines pretty much all the time. As a result, I have countless scraps of paper and endless pages of poetry scattered everywhere. Realistically, I publish less than one percent of what I produce, without any regard for the quality of the work. I lose and discard a lot as well, but it never bothers me much, as I don’t remember them after. In fact, I can’t recite a single one of my poems from memory.
