Exhaustion takes a toll
Whole days spent catching up
I need rest
I miss the way it was
Ten years gone
It seems I’m getting old
I used to have the energy to keep up with the world
Exhaustion takes a toll
Whole days spent catching up
I need rest
I miss the way it was
Ten years gone
It seems I’m getting old
I used to have the energy to keep up with the world
Quick glance
Back under
Dancing light and brilliant colours
Impressions of a world beyond my reach
I’m from a sightless place
Creature of the deep
Edge of sleep
Reaching out
Stepping forward gladly
Fall
Into the waters
Dark, quiet, calming
Lost beneath the waves
Sink into the deep
Find peace
A bed to lay
Destination in view
Deceptive nature of perspective
Still a ways to go
No room to relent
Obvious direction
Yet no path of least resistance
Keep pressing on
Until you’re all but spent
I woke up at 11:50pm and still managed to write my daily poem. It took until 11:54 to turn on my computer and log in, but I managed to publish by 11:57. How’s that for skirting the edge of a deadline? Hopefully I get back into the routine of updating in the mornings, but I haven’t been feeling creative in the early hours lately. In all honesty, I don’t really require inspiration, but it certainly helps the quality of my work.
I hope everyone is doing well, and finding time to relax. We all need an occasional break.
Warm regards,
J.C – Lloyd
Is nowhere safe?
Some place to hide my head
I need peace
Bury myself in the sand
Subterranean
Shelter from the world again
Vision blurring
World closes in on me
Imbalance of the blood
Sugar curse
Makes it hard to speak
Quick to anger
Primal rage
Inhuman strength
Then weakness
Consciousness wanes
Well, one hundred consecutive days. It’s the first time in this process that I’ve felt a sense of achievement, of reaching some milestone. Despite health issues, injuries, power outages, and my tendency to quit on myself, I’ve managed to be consistent and engaged.
I’d like to extend my thanks to everyone that’s kept up with me thus far. I hope you’re enjoying what little I have to offer, and I look forward to keeping it going as long as I can. To be earnest, I may well switch to every other day once the year is up.
While I’m here, I’ll give an update on my skate brand. Things are coming together piece by piece. I have stock building up and I should be ready to officially launch by the end of the summer, hopefully earlier. It’s a fairly seasonal business in Canada, but I had anticipated the first year being a loss in any case. It’s been a fun project so far, and time well spent, even if I’m not making any money. More updates to come.
Have a great weekend, everyone.
Warm Regards,
J.C – Lloyd
April showers
Early blooms soak it in
Oranges and violets
Dead grass forms a ring
Beauty juxtaposed
Strange days, when only flowers grow
Battle scars
Fighting the world
Fighting myself
Adversaries on all sides
Seeking them out
Challenge, conflict, justice served
Motivated by the ignorant
Spurred on by the hurt
I don’t insert myself in other people’s business
But I know what’s right, and I know what isn’t
